Waiting List: Your perfect match may not be available today but, unfortunately, there are many homeless dogs and who knows what tomorrow will bring. We keep a waiting list of approved applicants and many dogs are placed in approved homes before they are listed on our site.
Rescue Dachshunds: There are no perfect dogs, just like there are no perfect people. Most, but not all, rescue dogs have an ‘issue’ that landed them in rescue. Many are not good with kids because kids move quickly, are unpredictable, and can be scary to a small dog who is not used to them. Most need additional socialization and a refresher in house training. Some need to be convinced that they will never again be abused before they will greet you with a kiss and a wag. All dogs would benefit from training classes.
Other Rescues: If none of these dogs suit your family and you don’t want to join our waiting list please look into the many other Canadian and American rescue groups. They can help you find the right dog for your family. Please see our Links page for other dachshund rescues, and all-breed rescues.
